Dothan's Special Olympics volleyball team members are national champions and are headed to world championship.
On April 7th at 6:20 p.m. at the Northview High School gym these athletes will face off in a match against some of auburn university's football champions for a fundraiser called "Champions Helping Champions."
The $5 entry fee will help the volleyball team raise money for their trip to compete as Team USA in Athens, Greece.
"It's great; we’re just looking forward to playing against them this year. We just got to get our defense up. We've got to play hard and get our heads up and hands open and listen to our coach Angie,” says Team USA Volleyball Player Andrew Neve.
"I'm so excited and I've never been on the other side of the world and so it just appears to me that we get that opportunity to go,” says Team USA Volleyball Player Gregory Guilford.
Several community leaders and the law enforcement officers were at today's announcement to support Team USA and encourage the community to get behind these athletes.
