"Right now our goal is winning the state championships, but over the next few years we'd like to have our team in the Olympics,"

(Dothan, AL)--Three young boxers from Dothan will make their way to Birmingham in just a few days for the state Championship. P.A.L Coaches say their athletes are prepared, but they still need help from the Wiregrass area.

"We're all volunteers here, there's no salaries," P.A.L Coach Richard Swineheart said. " In order to attend state, we have to have money for gas and lodging," Swineheart said. "Every other city is rallying around their athletes to help out and the same support should be given in our area since we are trying to bring the championship title back to Dothan, "he said.

Coaches say athletes not only donate personal time to reach out to troubled youth, but they also have future global plans to put Dothan on the map.

"Right now our goal is winning the state championships, but over the next few years we'd like to have our team in the Olympics," PAL Coach OZ Bigham said.

Athletes will travel to Birmingham for ALabama's Golden Glove State Championship April 5th & 6th. If you would like to help the team out, you can make a donation to P.A.L at any Regions Branch in Dothan.
