NEW ORLEANS, La. – Troy softball outfielder Ebony Wright has earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors for her efforts last week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Wright, a senior from Angleton, Texas, was tremendous for the Trojans all week. She went 11-of-18 at the plate (.611) and scored three runs. Serving as the leadoff hitter for the Trojans, Wright had four multi-hit games on the week, including a 3-hit performance at Georgia Tech. She was also solid defensively, making seven putouts and posting a perfect fielding percentage.
Troy went 4-2 last week, including 4-1 at the UCF Knights Spring Fling in Orlando, Fla. The Trojans took down Bowling Green to start the Spring Fling, then defeated Penn and UT Martin in extra innings. Troy defeated Western Carolina on Sunday morning, then lost a close game to host UCF.
Wright currently leads the Trojans with a .379 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 10 runs scored.
The Trojans head out to Auburn to take on the Tigers at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Troy will play in its final tournament of the season this weekend at the Chanticleer Showdown, hosted by Coastal Carolina.
