Woodland Eliminates Providence Christian at Class 2A Final Four

Leah Strain tortured Providence Christian in the first half. Shanna Strain did the damage after the break, leading Woodland to a 71-54 victory at the Class 2A Final Four.

With the win, Woodland advanced to Friday's 2A Championship Game to face the winner of Tanner and Prattville Christian. Providence Christian ends the year with a 27-4 record.

Leah Strain scored 34 points on the day, including 26 in the first half, as Woodland built a 38-31 halftime lead. Shanna Strain did the rest, scoring 15 of her 18 points after the break, leading the Bobcats to the state title game.

Shalyn Strain added 12 points for Woodland, which improved to 33-2 on the year.

Elizabeth Dowd led Providence Christian with 26 points and 17 rebounds, including seven offensive boards. Brooke Segler added 11 points for the Eagles, who were playing in the school's first-ever Final Four.
