TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- When he made his commitment official Friday, David Cornwell didn't just give Alabama its quarterback of the future.
He gave the Crimson Tide its first Oklahoman of the Nick Saban era.
Two days later, wide receiver Derek Kief announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide, bringing Alabama's class of 2014 up to 12. With Kief hailing from Cincinnati, his pledge further diversified the group, as Alabama currently holds commitments from players who represent eight different states.
The class goes all the way to the west coast (OG Viane Talamaivao; Corona, Calif.), extends through the Rocky Mountains (K JK Scott; Denver), dips into Texas (LB Zach Whitley; Houston), taps into the trusty football pipelines in Louisiana (DT O.J. Smith; Bossier City) and Georgia (three players) and even includes someone right in the Crimson Tide's backyard (RB Bo Scarbrough; Northport).
