The top high school baseball players in the area will converge on Rehobeth High School on Saturday afternoon. The 18th annual Wiregrass Home Run Derby will get underway at 9:00 a.m.
More than 30 local sluggers are slated to compete for the derby crown. Preliminary rounds begin at 9:00 a.m., leading up to the derby finals at 3:00 p.m.
Advance tickets are on sale at C&M Sporting Goods for $7 each. Tickets will cost $10 each at the gate on the day of the event.
Hoke Granger from Northside Methodist won last year's derby title. Granger went on to lead the Knights to the ACEAA Championship, before being drafted by the Houston Astros.
Granger chose to play college baseball, and is currently enrolled at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City. His brother Gabriel is taking part in this year's derby.
