(DOTHAN)- A couple of Wiregrass Cardinals teams are competing in post-season play in the Sunshine state.
The 17U Wiregrass cardinals are at AAU Nationals in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Today they beat the Brazos Valley Renegades 4-3.
As a result, the 17U Cards are one of 12 teams remaining. They are the five seed and will play the 12 seed, the Chicago Cardinals at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. If they win that game they advance to play the 4-seed, the Connecticut Blue Jays.
The 18U Wiregrass Cardinals are competing in the Grand Slam Tournament in Panama City, Florida. They played the Rutherford Rams on Tuesday.
They lost to Rutherford, 8-7, despite out-hitting the Rams 13-4.
Gavin Gunter went 3-4 with 3 singles, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Cody Santora also went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles and scored 3 runs.
Justin McDonald hit a double with 2 RBI's and a single.
Garrett Davis -2 singles, 1RBI and scored a run.
Levi King - single RBI.
Brandon Carpenter and Connor Vowell each had one single.
The second game was canceled due to rain and has not been re-scheduled yet.
