Vanderbilt Cruises to First Win of Season over Presbyterian

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Zac Stacy rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as Vanderbilt defeated Presbyterian 58-0 for the Commodores' first win of the season Saturday.

Vanderbilt (1-2, 0-1 SEC) started Austyn Carta-Samuels at quarterback in place of Jordan Rodgers, who had made nine consecutive starts since last season.

Carta-Samuels' first snap as starting quarterback was a handoff to Stacy, who broke a tackle at his legs to run 86 yards for a touchdown.

Carta-Samuels, a transfer from Wyoming who sat out last season, completed 13 of 20 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.

The best chance for Presbyterian (1-2) to score came in the second quarter when the Blue Hose drove to the Vanderbilt 5-yard line.

Commodores cornerback Trey Wilson ended the scoring opportunity when he picked off Blue Hose quarterback Tamyn Garrick in the end zone and returned the interception 100 yards for a touchdown.
