TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa City School System will
attend classes for half a day on Nov. 18 because of concerns about
traffic problems associated with the University of Alabama-Georgia
State football game.
At a meeting Tuesday, the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education voted to approve the early dismissal of students on Nov. 18, a Thursday.
Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson approached the board
several weeks ago about the issue.
Anderson said several roads would be closed in the University
Boulevard area the day of the game.
Dorothy Richardson, assistant superintendent of general administration and public relations for the school system, said the majority of parents agree with an early dismissal for students that day.
