TROY, Ala. - The Troy women's basketball program and head coach Chanda Rigby announced the signing of Lauren Day on Monday. Day comes to Troy from Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Day, a 6-foot-1 forward, spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Niceville High School before transferring Choctawhatchee for her junior and senior season.

“We were very fortunate to sign a player of Lauren’s caliber this late in the summer,” Rigby said. “Lauren is a proven winner who possesses many qualities that we need in our program. I can’t wait to bring her in on the team and get started with her.”

In her two seasons at Choctawhatchee, Day led the Indians to a combined 56-3 record, including a 31-1 mark as a senior. In her senior season, Day posted 14.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game and was named the Class 6A State Final Four Most Valuable Player.

Day's teams won two Florida Class 6A district championships, a Region 1 title and a Florida Class 6A State Runner-Up trophy during her prep career. She participated in the Halifax Classic All-Star game in Panama City, Fla., where she recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in an 81-58 victory.

Day becomes the seventh newcomer on the Trojans’ 2013-14 roster.
