NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Sun Belt Conference took over the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Monday, with all eight football-playing members taking part in the annual football media day. The four new additions for the 2014 season were also present.

Head coach Larry Blakeney and senior quarterback Corey Robinson represented the Trojans at the podium and discussed the shift in the conference as well as the expectations for the upcoming season.

“There are some good teams coming in this year and next year,” Blakeney said. “It’ll be fun if we can perform. It’ll be fun to watch the Sun Belt as it competes against these other teams. I’m not worried about who’s leaving and who’s coming in, I’m thinking about those guys in Troy, Alabama.”

Troy was picked to finish fifth in the league after finishing the 2012 season sixth in the Sun Belt.

“You can’t pay attention to stuff like that,” Robinson said. “We lost six out of the seven games by seven points or less, against the SEC schools and the Sun Belt schools. We know what happened and we know what we have to do to correct that stuff.”

Blakeney knows that a major key to success in 2013 will be his quarterback duo of Robinson and Deon Anthony.

“I feel good about Corey and Deon,” Blakeney said. “Their quest needs to be that they’re going to be as perfect as they can be as quarterbacks when they’re in the game. I really think they’ll put it on their shoulders to be as mistake free as they can.”

The Sun Belt released the preseason all-conference team earlier in the day with Troy wide receiver Eric Thomas, offensive lineman Terrence Jones and punter Will Scott making the list. The league also released the partial television schedule for the 2013 season which features seven Troy games.

Troy opens the season on Aug. 31 against UAB in Veterans Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by ESPN3 and will kick off at 6 p.m.

Season tickets for Troy's five home games are available and can be purchased by calling the Troy ticket office at 1-877-878-WINS, by logging on to or by visiting the Tine Davis Fieldhouse.
