TROY, Ala. – Troy University Athletics Director John Hartwell has been selected to serve a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Issues Committee, effective Sept. 1, 2013.
The primary duties of the committee are to ensure that appropriate oversight of men’s basketball is maintained, with emphasis on recruiting; to enhance the development and public perception of men’s basketball; and to make recommendations on policy issues unrelated to legislative and playing rules.
“I am honored to serve on this committee and represent Troy University and the Sun Belt Conference at the NCAA level,” Hartwell said. “As a former player, sport administrator and now athletic director, I am excited for the opportunity to provide some insight that will keep college basketball a great game for student-athletes and fans.”
The committee is comprised of 18 members, including student-athlete representation and current Division I men’s basketball coaching staff members and is currently chaired by University of Kentucky Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart.
