Tiger Woods To Attempt Playing In PGA Championship

Woods Will Play Practice Round To Determine If He Can Compete at Valhalla.

The 14-time major winner will miss the tournament for the first time since making his debut at Augusta National in 1995 after having an operation on a pinched nerve "that has been hurting him for several months."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Tiger Woods finally arrived at Valhalla on Wednesday for the PGA Championship.

The PGA of America sent out a release that the 14-time major champion arrived. It is believed Woods will try to play a practice round to see if his injured back will allow him to complete in the final major of the year.

Woods had back surgery on March 31 and missed three months of the season, including two majors. He has played three tournaments since his return, but he withdrew in the final round at Firestone on Sunday when he jarred his back in a bunker.

He went home to Florida for treatment.
