SEC may see shift from running to passing

By  |

The Southeastern Conference has always been known as a league with a run-heavy mentality. But in 2013, don't be surprised if you see quarterbacks showing off their guns more now than ever.

Thanks to the pool of talented quarterbacks this season, more teams are taking their game to the air. 7 of the SEC's top 10 passers from last year are returning for another go around. Among those seven is AJ McCarron, Johnny Manziel, and Aaron Murray.

With that experience, they'll be looking to launch it even more this season. LSU's Zach Mettenberger and Florida's Jeff Driskel are even expected to come out stronger and more confident in 2013. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen sees the shift from defense to offense.

So, even through the run game will still be dominant in the SEC, keep your eyes peeled for a passing season.
