For captain of the Elite Lady Sox Rachael Faulkner, this year's "Queen of the Diamond" derby will be her last as a high school senior.

Rachael is a member of Ashford High School's Class of 2014 and will be graduating in the top 10 of her class.

This is her third year as a member of the Elite Lady Sox and Coach Ford says Rachael is a leader not because she is vocal, but because a she sets an example for her team mates every time she steps on the field.

Rachael almost quit softball in order to pursue volleyball with more dedication. But she met Coach Ford, who took her under his wing and reinvigorated her passion for the game.

Shortly after Rachael and her team won the 2012 USSSA World Series and Rachael was name to the 2012 All World Team.

Now, Rachael is signing with Faulkner State where she will play next fall.

"Well I got offers from other places but obviously Faulkner State was a great school for me and I was really excited to find out they wanted me at their school. The recruiting process is really hard and you know you kind of lose hope sometimes but as soon as it came in and we found out they wanted me to come down there and to figure out what they had to offer I was super excited and I can't wait to sign on February 11th" Rachael said.
