Quarterfinals Set at Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic

Dothan used an explosive first and fourth quarter to roll past Rehobeth 65-46 in the first round of the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic. With the win, the Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals against Dale County on Friday.

The Tigers broke open a tight game in the first quarter with a 14-2 run. Dothan led 21-12 after the first quarter, but needed a 16-4 burst in the final period to put the Rebels away.

Trey Jackson led Dothan with 15 points, while Chris Graham chipped in 11 points.

Josh Thompson had a monster game for the Rebels with 25 points and 13 rebounds. However, Rebels dynamic forward Lamarrius Mack was held to just four points, while committing seven turnovers.

Dale County - 63 Slocomb - 50

Trey McMillian poured in 21 points, leading Dale County past Slocomb 63-50 on Thursday afternoon. Jeffrey Whatley had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jamarius Henderson added 13 points as the Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals.

Dale County built a 40-20 lead midway through the third quarter, before the Red Tops came storming back. Implementing a full court press, Slocomb cut the Warriors lead to 41-34 in the fourth quarter before running out of gas.

Jaleel Craig and Ehren Faison scored 13 points each to lead Slocomb.

Eufaula - 64 Wicksburg - 43

Jalyin Robinson scored 23 points, leading Eufaula past Wicksburg 64-43 in the first round of the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic. With the win, the Tigers advanced to Friday's quarterfinal round to face Houston Academy.

Eufaula led by 10 points heading to the fourth quarter, before breaking the game open with a 22-point outburst in the final period. Demarkus Bouier and Marcellas Butler added 10 points each for the Tigers.

Trey McNeal had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers.

Houston Academy - 64 Houston County - 48

Alex Thompson erupted for 40 points, leading Houston Academy past Houston County 64-48. Thompson hit 14-of-21 shots and 10-of-12 free throws, nearly outscoring the Lions by himself.

Richard Howell added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders. Ray'Shon Kennedy had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Lions.
