The Providence Christian Girls Basketball Team had one goal entering this season; reach the Class 2A Final Four. The Eagles reached their goal in resounding fashion, powering past Elba 65-46 in the 2A South Regional Final on Friday.
With the win, the Eagles advanced to the Final 48, with their semifinal game set for Tuesday at 9 a.m. Elba ends the year with a 19-9 record.
The Eagles got off to a slow start against a physical Tigers squad, but slowly built a lead. Providence Christian led by three after one quarter and eight points at halftime.
A balanced attack allowed the Eagles to pull away after the break. Elizabeth Dowd had 16 points and 12 rebounds, earning tournament MVP honors.
She wasn't alone, as Mary Palm had a team-high 18 points, while Brooke Segler added 14 points and Lauren Hutto chipped in 11.
A'Jaspin Whitfield led Elba with 17 points.
