Players Go Low During First Round of 15-18 Year-Old Age Group at Future Masters

DOTHAN, AL -- The first round of play in the 15-18 Year-Old age group at the Future Masters proved to be a story of two tee times. Players who teed off in the morning posted some of the lowest scores of the day, while players in the afternoon tee times found the going much tougher at the Country Club.

Taylor Funk and Jacob Joiner, both playing in the morning tee times, shot identical -4 under par 66s. Will Duma and John Hayden, also playing early rounds, finished the day at -3 under par.

In all, 16 players shot under par during Thursday's first round. That luck didn't extend to local players in this year's field.

Seven players with Wiregrass ties hit the course on Thursday, with Elba's Thomas Hanchey posting the best score at +5 over par.

The second round will be played on Friday and then the field will be cut for Saturday's championship round.
