No. 1 Bama trying to build consistent ground game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's normally powerful running game hasn't been nearly so dominant lately.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide managed just 66 yards rushing against Colorado State, the lowest total since the South Carolina game in 2010. Alabama ranks last in the Southeastern Conference in rushing and will likely have a tougher time beating No. 21 Mississippi Saturday night with that kind of production.

The Tide is 52-0 since the start of the 2008 season when running for 140-plus yards. Bama has been held to an average of 84.6 yards rushing in the seven losses during that span. The Tide has been held below 100 yards on the ground twice in three games.

Tailback T.J. Yeldon has produced in his first season as starter, but his only big game came against Texas A&M.
