NEW BROCKTON, AL -- The New Brockton Football Team has a new head coach. The Coffee County School Board has approved the hiring of Justin Jones.

Jones spent last year as an assistant coach at Enterprise. In 2011 and 2012, he was the Head Coach at Florala. Jones led the Wildcats to an 8-12 record during his two-year tenure.

Jones replaces Jim Bob Striplin, who resigned after the 2013 season. Striplin coached the Gamecocks for six seasons, leading the team to a 31-33 record, and an 0-4 record in the playoffs.

Superintendent Dr. Don McPherson says the district received 45 applications for the job. He believes Jones will be a great fit with the Gamecocks.

"I and the administration at New Brockton High School felt Coach Jones has the character and enthusiasm and the drive to succeed," McPherson said.

Jones takes over a team that went 5-5 last season, missing the playoffs.
