NAIA Rules Ray Ray Armstrong Ineligible at Faulkner University

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Former Miami Hurricanes free safety Ray Ray Armstrong has been declared ineligible to play his senior season at Faulkner University.

The NAIA Eligibility Center declared the former Hurricanes starter ineligible Tuesday.

Miami kicked Armstrong off the team in July after he wasn't honest during an internal investigation. He was suspended for four games to start last season because he broke NCAA rules by accepting gifts from a former Miami booster. He missed another game while the school checked if other violations were committed when Armstrong had dinner with a friend who works in a public relations firm that handles professional athletes.

Armstrong is just one class shy of a sports management degree.

NAIA rules bar any athlete "who has been permanently banned in a given sport at any four-year institution."
