DOTHAN, AL -- For three quarters, the Enterprise Girls Basketball Team stood toe to toe with Murphy at the South Regional Tournament. However, basketball is a four quarter game, and a dreadful start cost the Wildcats a chance to advance at the Dothan Civic Center.
Murphy outscored Enterprise 10-0 in the first quarter, then hung on the rest of the way for a 35-25 victory. With the win, Murphy advanced to face Blount in the 6A Regional Final on Friday at 9 a.m.
Enterprise played sound defense against Murphy, holding the Panthers to 28 percent shooting on the day. But, Murphy's defense was even better, limiting Enterprise to 18 percent shooting, including 2-of-11 from 3-point range.
Murphy led 10-0 after the first quarter and 23-5 at halftime. The Wildcats woke up after the break, outscoring the Panthers 20-12 to cut the final margin to 10 points.
Hope Moore led Murphy (19-7) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Enterprise (23-11) had four players tied with five points each.
