Mike Waters Resigns as Zion Chapel Head Football Coach

JACK, AL -- Zion Chapel High School is searching for a new head football coach. Mike Waters has resigned after four season with the Rebels.

Waters took over at Zion Chapel in 2009, and slowly built the Rebels back to respectability. He led the Rebels to the playoffs in 2011, the team's first post-season appearance since 2005.

Waters had a 15-26 record in four seasons at Zion Chapel, including a 4-6 record in 2012. He will remain at the school as a teacher.

His resignation comes just days before the Rebels were set to begin spring practice. Assistant coaches will conduct spring drills, while the search begins for a new head coach.
