NEW YORK, N.Y. - After being down 11 after the first half, the Alabama men's basketball team stormed back in the second half against Drexel in the third-place game of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Madison Square Garden to force overtime. However, after battling back throughout the night, the Crimson Tide came up just short in triple overtime, falling to the Dragons, 85-83.

This was the first triple overtime game since the 2012-13 season against LSU, and the seventh in program history. The Tide is now 4-3 in such games.

Junior forward Nick Jacobs led the Tide in scoring for the second straight game, putting up a career high in points with 23, as well as grabbing eight rebounds. Alabama had three other players in double figures with Trevor Releford putting up 21, Retin Obasohan scoring 18, and Algie Key contributing 10 points.

Trailing by two points with four seconds left in the third overtime, freshman center Jimmie Taylor managed to draw a foul while going to the rim, earning two free throws. Taylor missed both shots, and although the Tide got the offensive rebound, they couldn't convert to force a fourth extra period.

Drexel guard Chris Fouch led the Dragons in scoring with 19 points. He also added five rebounds and three assists.

The Tide returns to Coleman Coliseum for its next contest where it will square off against the North Florida Ospreys on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. CT. The contest will be televised on CSS.
