Marianna has found a new head football coach, and the Bulldogs didnt' have to look far for their new leader. Mark Beach has left Graceville to take over the Bulldogs program.
Beach coached Graceville for just one season, but enacted one of the top turnarounds in the state of Florida. The Tigers went 8-3, won a district title and advanced to the playoffs one year after going 2-8.
Now, Beach takes over a much different situation. Marianna went 8-2 last season, narrowly missing the playoffs in Class 4A.
Beach replaces Tim Cokely, who left after just one season with the Bulldogs to become the new head coach at Tallahassee Leon. With plenty of talent returning, and a solid foundation already in place, Beach is expecting big things in the Bulldogs future.
"I think it's phenomenal," Beach said. " I do. I think the guys... the learning curve is going to be short because they had a high-demand guy. I know coach Cokely is not a junk guy, and I know what he set here is a great foundation to follow.
"I know, probably, some people are scared because he is such a great coach, but it's coaching. I've established our work over in Graceville, and I think we can do the same things here."
Beach was previously an assistant coach at Mayo-Lafayette and Hernando, before taking the Graceville job prior to last season.
