MONTGOMERY, Alabama -– It's a feeling that never gets old for Lakeside girls coach Ricky Ward.

With chants of three-peat echoing through Huntingdon College's Roland Arena, Ward gathered with his team to celebrate a 54-45 win over Marengo Academy in the AISA Class A championship game.

Thursday's win marked the third straight state title for Lakeside (29-5) and the fourth in five years. Lakeside won the Class AA championship in 2009, 2011 and 2012.

"Every championship is special," said Ward, who has coached Lakeside to nine state titles in 17 championship game appearances in 28 seasons. "To see these girls work as hard as they have and accomplish this, it's a fantastic feeling."
