Holy Pond Eliminates Straughn at Final 48

Birmingham, AL -- The Straughn Girls Basketball Team spent three quarters controlling the tempo and the game against Holy Pond. In the final eight minutes, the Broncos finally broke free, beating the Tigers 38-30.

With the win, the Broncos advanced to Saturday's 3A Championship game to face Lauderdale County.. Straughn ends the year with a 32-3 record.

The Tigers held the Broncos to 20 points through the first three quarters, leading by four points heading to the final period. But, Holy Pond got on track in the fourth quarter, outscoring Straughn 18-6 over the last eight minutes, including a 12-0 run to take control.

Natasha Holcombe led Holy Pond with 12 points. Brittany Driver had a team-high 12 points for Straughn.
