Gamecocks focused on LSU, not Georgia win

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Coach Steve Spurrier says No. 3 South Carolina has high goals for this season and several are much bigger than starting 6-0 or dominating Georgia.

The Gamecocks (6-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) moved into the SEC and national title talks with Saturday night's 35-7 victory over the Bulldogs. South Carolina faces another stiff test this week when it travels to No. 9 LSU -- where the Gamecocks haven't won since 1994.

The players have felt the joy around campus in the wake of the win against Georgia. Safety D.J. Swearinger says he was called to the front of the classroom by a teacher to get a round of applause from about 200 of his classmates.

Spurrier says his upperclassmen like Swearinger and defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles have kept the team focused.
