G.W. Long baseball star Trey Walding got the call of a lifetime earlier this year. Walding learned he would be heading to Miami in December to play in one of the country's premier All-Star Games.
The Rebels senior has been named to the 2012 Power Showcase All-American Team. Walding will represent the state of Alabama in a game that features 130 of the top amateur prospects from around the world.
He'll also compete in home run derby prior to the event. The game will be played in Miami at the Marlins new stadium, and Walding can't wait to showcase his skills on a national stage.
"Just meeting the other guys, and there's talk about there being some major league players there," Walding said. Jose Reyes, Giancarlo Stanton, people like that. Just to get a chance to meet people like them and talk to them."
The 2012 Power Showcase will be held from December 27th through the 30th.
