Former Troy defensive lineman Jeremy Elder died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack.

Elder was 25.

The two-star recruit out of College Park, GA signed on with Nick Saban's first recruiting class at Alabama. He redshirted his only season with the Tide in 2007.

Elder got in trouble off the field and transferred to Georgia Military College. After battling injuries there, Elder eventually ended up at Troy in 2010.

Elder spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career as a Trojan, playing in six games, recording four tackles as a senior in 2011.

He graduated from Troy this past December with a bachelor's degree in social science.
