As per CBS Sports, former Tennessee point guard Trae Golden is transferring to Georgia Tech. Golden says he chose Tech in order to be closer to his sick father. He is still awaiting an NCAA exemption to be able to play in the 2013-2014 season.

Tennessee never named a reason Golden's departure, but according to sources, it was due to academic issues.

The 6-foot-2 point guard scored about 12 points per game his junior season and led the team with 3.9 assists per game.
