The Buffalo Bills announced Monday night they have released former Alabama State quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
According to NFL.com, Kevin Kolb and rookie EJ Manuel now will compete for the starting QB job. The report indicated that Kolb is the early slight favorite to start in Week 1.
The Bills, who traded a seventh-round draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Jackson last year, rewarded the QB with $500,000 to re-sign in February, according to reports.
Jackson split first-team quarterback reps with Kevin Kolb throughout organized team activities.
Meanwhile, Manuel, who was selected with the 16th overall pick of the draft out of Florida State, was the only quarterback taken in the first round of the draft.
