Football Coach in Tennessee Claims Mississippi State Recruit Received Money from Booster

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- A football coach in Nashville, Tenn., says he saw Mississippi State freshman defensive back Will Redmond receive money from a booster during the recruiting process.

Byron De'Vinner called in to WXWX radio in Mississippi on Tuesday, saying the "handshake" was worth about $200 and that former Mississippi State assistant coach Angelo Mirando knew about the payment Multiple media outlets have reported De'Vinner confirmed he called WXWX's "Head to Head" show.

Mirando resigned from his position at Mississippi State on Aug. 19 due to "unforeseen personal issues." The university confirmed on Aug. 23 that it was working with the NCAA regarding a "potential recruiting irregularity."

Documents released by the university through a public records request on Aug. 28 revealed the athletic department has disassociated from a booster who made "impermissible contact" with a recruit.
