Florida State Preparing to Face Rival Miami on Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State appears to be paying the price for a soft schedule.

The 12th-ranked Seminoles (6-1, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) find themselves at No. 14 in the first Bowl Championship Series ratings that determine who plays for the national title.

And the computer portion used in the rankings formula was not good for the Seminoles, who have just one win over a team with a winning record as they prepare for Saturday's visit to Miami (4-3, 3-1). Florida State's 49-37 victory over 14th-ranked Clemson last month is the Seminoles only win this season over a team with a winning record.

Two of Florida State's wins are over lower-division teams from the Football Championship Subdivision and another over Boston College, whose lone win was over lower-division Maine.
