Florida State Avoids Upset from North Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Michael Snaer scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half as Florida State held off North Florida 75-67 on Wednesday night.

Okaro White added 15 points and nine rebounds and Terrance Shannon had 12 points for the Seminoles, who won their fourth straight game after a season-opening loss to South Alabama.

Parker Smith scored 20 points and Beau Beech added 12 points for North Florida (1-4).

Florida State jumped out to a 16-3 lead at the 14:23 mark of the first half and was ahead by at least six points until the final minute of the game. North Florida cut the lead to five, 70-65, on a pair of free throws by Smith with 40 seconds left.

But the Seminoles made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to win. They finished 23 of 28 (82.1 percent) from the line, with Snaer making 9 of 10.
