Wilcox Central appeared to have all of the momentum after Makarius Chapman hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. Escambia County wasn't fazed, bouncing back to beat the Jaguars 65-61 in the 4A South Regional Final on Saturday.
Fred Knight scored 17 points and Desmond Williams added 13 for the Blue Devils, who advanced to the Class 4A Final Four in Birmingham next week. Wilcox Central ends the year with a 22-5 record.
Freddie Smith scored a game-high 26 points and Chapman added 16, including his game-tying trey. The Jaguars lost despite outrebounding the Blue Devils 45-27.
