The Wicksburg Boys Basketball Team was concerned about stopping Elba's Cobe Goosby in Tuesday's 2A Regional Semifinal game at the Dothan Civic Center. The Panthers were right to be concerned.
Goosby poured in 28 points, leading the Tigers past Wicksburg 67-59, and earning a spot in Friday's 2A Regional Final. The Tigers will face the winner of Houston Academy and Washington County for the Regional Title and a trip to the Final 48 in Birmingham next week.
Elba used a balanced attack behind Goosby, with Nick Green adding 14 points, Martavious Gray chipping in 11 and Raheem Newson contributing 10 points.
Wicksburg trailed by just one point heading into the fourth quarter, but couldn't slow down the Tigers, who didn't miss a field goal attempt in the final period. Trey McNeal led four Wicksburg players in double figures with 13 points.
The Panthers end the year with a 22-9 record.
