Former Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick won't be prosecuted on marijuana charges.
The state attorney's office in Bradenton, Florida issued a statement last week, saying charges were dismissed against Kirkpatrick. He was arrested on January 17th and charged with possession of less than 20 grams of the drug.
No reason has been given for the dismissal of charges. Kirkpatrick was arrested along with another former Crimson Tide DB, Chris Rogers. Charges against Rogers are still pending.
Kirkpatrick was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the arrest. He admitted to being in the car when drugs were purchased, but not knowing that drugs were being bought.
He posted $120 bond, and pleaded not guilty on January 24th. Kirkpatrick is projected as a first round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. He's expected to take part in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis later this month.
