As if the Dothan Eagle Player of the Year and the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year wasn't enough, Dothan High School's Kasey Cooper received her third Player of the Year award.
The Alabama Sports Writers Association named Cooper Class 6A Player of the Year, 6A Pitcher of the Year and a member of the state's 10-player Super All-State Team.
This marks the third straight year Cooper was named to the Super All-State team and the second consecutive season she was awarded 6A Player of the Year.
Cooper led the Tigers to a 45-17 record and to the state tournament.
She finished with a personal 26-11 record, a 1.26 earned run average, racked up 365 strikeouts, and pitched four no-hitters.
She was also one of the top hitters in the state, earning Class 6A bests in batting average and on-base percentage. She also hit 22 homers, drove in 75 runs and scored 88 runs, while also delivering 22 doubles, seven triples and 24 stolen bases. Cooper also led the state in walks as opposing teams put her on base 53 times.
She is committed to playing college ball for the Auburn Tigers.
