JACKSONVILLE, AL -- Dothan High senior standout Kasey Cooper capped her prep career with the state's top honor on Sunday night. Cooper was named Miss Softball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
The award capped a whirlwind weekend for Cooper, who also won Gatorade State Player of the Year, Class 6A Player of the Year and Dothan Eagle Super 12 Player of the Year.
Cooper wrapped up her high school career with a stellar senior campaign, hitting .576 with 22 home runs and 75 r.b.i. She also earned 6A Pitcher of the Year honors from the ASWA, compiling a 26-11 record on the mound, striking out 365 in 227 innings, throwing 11 shutouts and four no-hitters. She posted a 1.26 ERA and averaged 11.26 strikeouts per seven innings.
The ASWA also named Cooper to the Super All-State Team for the third straight season. Cooper has signed to continue her softball career at Auburn.
