Dothan Duo Sign Letters of Intent

Kasey Cooper has made an impact on the softball field for the past decade. Now, the Dothan High star is taking her game to the SEC.

Cooper on Wednesday signed a letter of intent to play for Auburn. She's one of the premier players in the southeast, leading Dothan to a state championship, plus second and third place finishes in the past three years.

Cooper hit .599 as a junior with 19 home runs, while striking out 344 batters as the Tigers top pitcher. Now, Cooper says she can't wait to get to the Plains and help Auburn compete for SEC and national championships.

"I fell in love with the campus," Cooper said. "Right when I walked in, it was like, this is the place I'm supposed to be. The engineering facilities is amazing, and the softball facilities is all I could ask for.

"It was the right fit for me."

Cooper's battery mate also signed a letter of intent on Wednesday. Dothan catcher Denise Anderson chose Florida A&M.

Anderson had offers from several JUCO programs, plus Alabama State, but she says FAMU felt like the perfect fit.

"I chose it because it's close to home, and also the campus was really, really nice," Anderson said. "The softball team kind of reminded me of the environment I'm around here. I really loved it because it reminded me of my teammates and the seasons we had together."

Anderson hit .388 last year, with eight home runs and 37 r.b.i. To see complete interviews with both players, watch the attached video.
