Recruiting in the SEC is always an arms race. And, now with John Calipari at Kentucky, it's imperative for other conference teams to go after high profile players.
Florida has thrown it's hat in the ring for the league's best recruiting class, signing two ESPN Top 10 players in point guard Kasey Hill and Holmes County star forward Chris Walker.
The Blue Devils senior signed with the Gators on Tuesday, which was the first day of the early signing period. Walker is one of the nation's premier forward prospects, standing 6'10 and displaying a rare combination of size, speed and athleticism.
Walker could've gone anywhere in the country, but he says the Gators will give him the best chance to shine and continue his quest to one day play in the NBA.
"It just really feels good to be a part of a dynamic program and have a coach like Billy Donovan, so I'm just really excited," Walker said.
Walker and Hill played together on an AAU Summer League Team, and he says Hill's choice to play at Florida made his decision even easier.
"They already have the point guard in Kasey Hill from Orlando, plus me and coach Donovan have the best relationship with all the other coaches and coaching staffs," Walker said.
"That being said, that's why I chose Florida."
Walker chose the Gators over Florida State, Kansas and Ohio State among others. To see our complete interview with Walker, watch the attached video.
