Chipola Lady Indians set to play in NJCAA National Basketball Tournament

SALINA, KS—The Chipola College Lady Indians are set to play in the NJCAA National Tournament, March 17-22, in Salina, Kansas. Chipola (31-1) is the number two seed in the tournament behind number one seed Trinity Valley (32-1). The Lady Indians will play on Wednesday, March 19, at 1 p.m. (CST). Chipola will face the winner of New Mexico and ASA College (NY).

The Lady Indians defeated Northwest Florida State 68-50 to capture the Region 8/FCSAA State Championship, March 8, on the campus of the College of Central Florida in Ocala. Evelyn Akhator was named Tournament MVP.

The Lady Indians (30-1) made it to the state championship with a 69-62 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville in the semi-finals on Friday. Chipola swamped Palm Beach Thursday, March 6, in the first round of the state tournament.

Chipola’s national tournament games will be broadcast on WJAQ-radio, 100.9, on the web at and also live on Chipola College Television (CCTV), Comcast Channel 4.
