MARIANNA—Chipola College (35-8) has clinched a spot in the FCSAA State Softball Tournament set for May 2-5 in Pensacola.
Chipola will play State College of Florida, Friday, May 3, at noon (CST), in the first round of the tournament. Win or lose, the Lady Indians will play at 5 p.m. May 3 against either Hillsborough or Tallahassee.
The Lady Indians are ranked fourth in the FCSAA State Poll. Gulf Coast is first. Northwest is sixth.
In the final league standings, Gulf Coast (12-4) leads the league. Chipola (11-5) is second. Northwest (10-6) is third. Tallahassee is (4-12). Pensacola is (3-13).
Chipola finished the conference season at home April 18, by sweeping Tallahassee in a double-header. Chipola won game one, 4-3 and game two, 8-5.
Chipola swept Pensacola, 13-2 and 10-2, on April 16. Eva Voortman was the winning pitcher in game one. Rosanne DeVries was the winning pitcher in game two.
