TROY, AL -- One of the area's top high school basketball players has made his college choice. Charles Henderson guard Tyler Mitchell has committed to Enterprise State, and plans to sign with the Boll Weevils on Tuesday.
Mitchell was one of the area's top scoring threats this past season, and he hopes to make a similar impact at the junior college level. He believes that transition will be easier, thanks to his relationship with current ESCC coach Jermaine Williams.
"I want to go there because I'm familiar with their coach, who was my AAU coach," Mitchell said. "It was just a good environment that I feel like I'll be good at.
"It's alawys a challenge, but that's what it's all about, being pushed to the next level. I'm looking forward to that."
Mitchell averaged 19 points per game as a senior, leading Charles Henderson to the South Regional Tournament in Dothan.
