Chipola Baseball Alumni Weekend Set for February 7-8

MARIANNA— Chipola baseball alumni, their families, and fans are invited to participate in the 2014 Chipola College Baseball Alumni Weekend set for Feb. 7 and 8.

The weekend begins with two Chipola baseball games on Friday, Feb. 7. Chipola plays Shelton State at 10 a.m. and Walters State at 1 p.m. An Alumni Social will be held at Circle S Plantation.

A Golf Tournament featuring a four-person, scramble format tees off Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Indian Springs Golf Club. All golfers are invited to tee it up with current and former Major League Baseball alumni, sponsors and guests. A casual Alumni Social is set for Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s events kick-off with Chipola vs. Walters State at 10 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., the annual Alumni Home Run Derby will commence with a Jersey Retirement Ceremony for MLB All-Star Russell Martin of the Pittsburgh Pirates. A silent auction of MLB memorabilia will run during the derby with an MLB/MiLB autograph session to follow.

The annual Alumni Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at Citizen’s Lodge with special guest speakers and entertainment to be announced.

Head Coach Jeff Johnson and members of the Alumni Committee—Nathan Marks (00’), Andrew Gay (07’), Jason Barber (06’)—invite all former players and Chipola alumni to join them in supporting and participating in the weekend’s events.

Chipola head coach Jeff Johnson, says, “We want to stay in touch with as many of our alumni and fans of our program as possible. We invite everyone to participate in our Alumni Weekend to have a great time and support our Chipola Indians.”
