MARIANNA, FL -- The State College of Florida Manatees came out red hot at the State Tournament on Thursday. But, Central Florida Community College weathered an early storm of 3-pointers from the Manatees, earning a 90-77 win at Chipola College.
With the win, the Patriots advanced to the semifinals on Friday. State College of Florida ends the year with a 6-26 record.
Isaiah Williams and Obinna Oleka combined to hit 12 3-pointers on the game. Williams had six treys in the first five minutes of the game, and finished with 31 points. Oleka finished with 27.
But, the Patriots used strong shooting and a balanced attack to survive the Manatees surge. Rodell Wiggington led five Patriots in double figures with 20 points.
CFCC shot 44 percent from the field for the game, and held the Manatees to 33 percent shooting. The Patriots also outrebounded the Manatees 51-40, including 28 offensive rebounds for CFCC.
