Braves must replace Hudson, Maholm in rotation

ATLANTA (AP) -- Braves closer Craig Kimbrel has played only three full seasons in the majors, and already his contemporaries are considered the veterans of the team.

That includes Atlanta's rotation, where replacements must be found for departed veterans Tim Hudson and Paul Maholm.

Kimbrel says, "It happened so fast."

The rotation returns Julio Teheran, Mike Minor, Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy. The 28-year-old Medlen has the most experience of the returning starters.

Beachy, who missed most of last season recovering from elbow ligament-replacement surgery, expects to be ready for spring training. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 13.

Monday was the first day of the Braves' informal pitching camp.

Gavin Floyd, who signed a one-year deal, is recovering from elbow surgery and won't be ready for the start of the season.
