Brantley beats Marion County 33-0 for 1A title

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- O.J. Guice rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown and caught two TD passes to lead Brantley to a 33-0 win over Marion County Thursday in the AHSAA Class 1A state championship game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Guice, the game's MVP, caught a 15-yard touchdown pass on Brantley's opening drive and a 13-yarder in the second quarter to give the Bulldogs (15-0) a 12-0 halftime lead.

Brantley's defense notched its 10th shutout and fourth of the postseason over defending champion Marion County (13-2). Marion County came in averaging 50 points per game.

It's Brantley's second state title in three years.

Brantley's Andrew Parker ran for 111 yards and a 5-yard touchdown on 22 carries.

Guice's final touchdown came on a 21-yard run with 3:43 remaining, before defensive lineman Selleven Burnett's 79-yard fumble return -- the longest non-offensive touchdown in Class 1A Super 6 history.
