Brantley Girls Top Sunshine 68-54 for 1A South Regional Title

DOTHAN, AL -- The Brantley Girls Basketball Team is extremely comfortable at the Dothan Civic Center. The Bulldogs swept through the South Regional for the second straight year, beating Sunshine 68-54 on Friday in the 1A Regional Final.

The defending Class 1A State Champions will return to the Final 48 in Birmingham next week. Sunshine ends the year with a 18-5 record.

Brantley used a balanced attack and hot shooting from 3-point range to knock out Sunshine. Raven Davis led four Brantley players in double figures with 18 points, scoring all of her points on six made 3-point shots.

Peyton Hill added 16 points and 10 rebounds, Amahni Upshaw had 15 points and Dominique Caldwell added 11 points for the Bulldogs. Brantley (25-5) hit 11-of-25 3-point attempts on the day.

Sunshine star Eulacia Edwards started fast, scoring her team's first seven points. However, Edwards finished with just 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds, before fouling out.
